Assignment:

If anyone wishes to write a poem, letter or statement to begin our performance on February 8th, please email it to me for consideration. Our message is peace as opposed to violence and hatred. There is too much hate and violence in this world, but we can overcome and rise above it with a message of peace and loving one another. This is the central theme of our performance. In the aftermath of the shooting in Sandy Hook Elementary School, our class discussed how we could deal and process the overwhelming sadness of this tragic event. We looked at the important people in our history that have tried to make the world a better place. Martin, John Ghandi, JFK, Lincoln all were such leaders who tragically, were taken from us through violence. Our generation needs to focus on loving one another and peace instead of violence and hatred. The song, Seasons of Love speaks to that message. Live your life in peace. Please think about this, the song and what you want to say and send it to me at 197prichford@gmail.com You can use quotes from these great men as inspiration in your writing.
